The moment we arrived, the cozy atmosphere of the lodge welcomed us. A wood stove was crackling, and homemade brownies added a delightful touch. Our King Room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with comfortable bedding that ensured a restful night. Breakfast was a highlight—fresh fruit, homemade bread, and mouthwatering scones accompanied eggs and bacon cooked to perfection. The hosts, Philip and Daphne, were warm and accommodating, making each aspect of our stay enjoyable. The surrounding scenery was stunning, especially the view of the Buller River and nearby mountains. However, I wished for a more extensive dinner menu, as options were somewhat limited. Otherwise, everything was top-notch. The shared kitchen and lounging area were lovely, fostering a homey vibe that made us feel right at home.

The freedom of staying in the middle of nowhere granted incredible stargazing opportunities, enhancing the overall experience. The charm of experiencing a homely atmosphere made the stay feel special and inviting.
The bed in the King Room lacked comfort, feeling cold during the night, which might’ve been improved by utilizing an electric blanket. Noise pollution from the communal kitchen and lounge was a concern, making it feel less private, especially given the thin walls.

Couple's Cozy Retreat
Our hosts Philip and Daphne made us feel like family as soon as we arrived, offering us homemade treats and the warmth of their charming lodge. The breakfast was out of this world, with homemade jams and fresh fruit that got us through a long day of adventures.
It wasn’t exactly a bargain, but it was worth every penny.
